About Rape Crisis

Established in 1976, the Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust is the oldest women’s organisation in South Africa supporting rape survivors on the road to recovery and along the road to justice, and making change in communities.

We have a vision of a South Africa in which women are safe in their communities and where the criminal justice system supports and empowers rape survivors and acts as a deterrent to rapists.

Our mission is to promote safety in communities, to reduce the trauma experienced by rape survivors, to empower women, to promote gender equality, to strengthen the criminal justice system and to work actively to address flaws in legislation.

  2. Keep up the great work! I am a survivor of multiple sexual assaults, that occurred when I was 19, 20 years old. I never let myself acknowledge that was what happened to me for many years, then had an experience last year that forced be to face the truth. I find it amazing that despite the supposed progress we have made in so many areas, that it is still so hard to talk about rape and sexual violence.
